Dr. Amar Jyoti Patowary

Dr. Amar Jyoti Patowary is currently working as Professor & Head, Deptt. of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and Controller of Examinations, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) (An Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health Family Welfare, Govt. of India) Mawdiangdiang, Shillong, Meghalaya, India. He is a recipient of “Fellow of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine” award (2021); “Award of Excellence” award by IJHRMLP (2017) and “Fellow of National Foundation of Clinical Forensic Medicine” award (2011). He has developed the ‘Cosmetic Autopsy Incision” in 2006 which has been modified for “Autopsy of death due to custodial torture” in 2014. He has peer reviewed approximately 29 articles and 7 chapters in UG and PG books. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of medico legal work since 1996.
