Dr. Vishal Sharma

Dr. Vishal Sharma is presently Chairperson/Head of Institute of Forensic Science & Criminology (IFSC), Panjab University, Chandigarh (INDIA). He has obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2007. He is having 16 years of teaching and research experience to date. He is the recipient of the DAE Young scientist research award in 2011 by the Department of Atomic Energy BARC, Mumbai for his research in fingerprint sensing through nanotechnology. He is leading a research group on Advanced Forensic Research at IFSC, Panjab University, Chandigarh. His current research interest is in the field of Forensic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Chemometrics, Questioned documents, Sensors, Fingerprint Sensing, and Synthesis of smart materials for different applications. He has completed 05 research projects and currently running 01 research project. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and all are Scopus & Web of Science indexed with a maximum impact factor of 9.5 with around 880 citations (Google scholar) with an h-index of 18. In addition, he has written about 10 book chapters. He has edited 02 books from Springer Nature & Elsevier Science Publisher. Currently, he is working on 02 books as an Editor from the Royal Society of Chemistry and Elsevier International publishers. He is on the editorial board of Forensic Science International: Reports and Forensic Science International: Synergy journals of Elsevier. He has been invited for expert lectures abroad by various prestigious societies like the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and visited countries like Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Canada, and Poland. Recently he has been conferred with the best researcher award by Panjab University under Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE), DST Govt. of India grant, and Dr. P.D. Sethi National Award. He has filled 02 patents to Controller General of Patents, Design & Trade Marks, India.
