Advances in Chemical Development of Latent Fingerprints

Advancement in Techniques

“Every Contact Leaves Traces” - The basic Principle of Exchange by Sir Edmond Locard made us realize that Fingerprints can play a very crucial role in the field of Forensic Science. Fingerprints have been used as an essential evidence in solving many cases since the late 19th Century for the identification of a person. Latent Fingerprints are the most common form of fingerprints found at the crime scene which are invisible to naked eyes therefore we need to develop them first with suitable methods depending upon the surface on which they are found.

In the era of Advancing Technology, criminals have also shown progression in their style of committing crimes and removing traces from the crime scene therefore there is a growing need for advancement in the traditional techniques of developing Latent Fingerprints.
